Chiropractic Care for Chronic Ear Infections

By Phil Connely

Erica had been having severe and painful ear infections since she was six months of age. So far, in a mere forty-some months of life she had been subject to having her ear drums punctured with tubes placed in them. She had spent a lot of her life on antibiotics and assorted other drugs. This was a very difficult situation of intolerable discomfort and restless nights for Erica and her parents.

Erica was almost four. 8 weeks back this shy little girl came to the clinic holding the hem of her mother's skirt. Erica's mummy and father were not absolutely certain why they'd brought their child to a chiropractor's office. Her ma was only following the guidance of a trusted chum who had maintained that she bring Erica to see me.

Erica's pop was first to get right to the point. "Can you cure ear infections?" He announced, with a strange twist of hope and disbelief. "Actually," I said, "I cannot." Any trace of hope fell from the young couples face and the father's expression began to toughen. "Then why are we here?" he asked, indicating his suspicion was being confirmed that this was all a real error. "I did not say that your girl can't get better," I revealed, "only that I won't cure ear infections." In the instant of silence that followed I could feel the bewilderment welling up in their minds. With the fate of their dear girl in the balance why would I be mincing words?

Because, my friend, it is very important that you understand what chiropractic is, what it is not and why it is important to you and your kid. My reply to them is my answer to you. Everybody is blessed with a potential that most never achieve. We do not achieve that potential, not because of what we lack, but because we are blocked from expressing it.

Small Erica didn't have ear infections as she needed holes in her eardrums. She did not suffer as she was deficient in some drug. She suffered because she was not expressing the full power and potential of life in her body. An awesome power had made this whole little girl from a single cell, but now something had diminished its complete and perfect expression.

If the electricity in your room suddenly all turn off you go check the circuit breaker. When part of a person's body is not functioning correctly I also check the circuit breaker. In your body the circuit breaker is the backbone. In Erica's small spine I found three subluxations or misalignments. One was at her atlas, the top vertebrae in her neck. The second was in her eighth thoracic bones in the lower middle of her spine. The 3rd was in her sacrum, the base of the spine. I altered Erica that day and sent them home with directions to return in two days.

The day after I got a call from Erica's mother. "What did you do to Erica?" she asked. A quick flush of panic went through me "the kind a doctor gets when a patient asks that kind of open stopped question. "Why do you ask?" I inquired. "She slept through the night and she is like a different kid today!" she said, "She's more calm than I have ever seen her!"

I saw Erica at her next appointment and she used to be a different person. She climbed right up on the adjusting table without even being asked. Young children are so in tune with their inner knowledge before they become infected with fears, cynicism and distrust. They're still dancing and singing to the inner music of their own body. We each still have this if we would only take a moment to listen. Then we would know the truth of chiropractic. It's there within us now.

When the difficulty is removed, when the circuit breaker is re-set, then the power that made the body has a chance to heal it. During the last eight weeks Erica's ear aches have completely vanished. Her doctor can't think the fantastic change in her condition. Now that's great hearing problems.

So what am I pronouncing, that chiropractic is a excellent alternativefor earaches? No! A chiropractic doctor merely fixes the subluxation "the block to your inborn power to be well. Consistent correction of subluxations is imperative to manifesting the full potential of your life. Nothing else corrects the subluxation, no pill, no kind of stretching, only the chiropractic alteration.

Natural Chiropractic and Ear Infections

By Nathan Leavitt

Ear infections are common in youngsters. Young children under the age of seven are prone to ear infections since they have a shorter Eustachian tube. They have not yet developed the resistance to bacteria and viruses because there immune system is developing. It is challenging to see your child in pain and it may seem like there's little you can do for them. Ear infections are a frequent reason for a visit to the Pediatrician.

A major cause of ear infections is otitis media which is inflammation of the middle ear. When the middle ear becomes infected, pressure builds up behind the ear drum (tympanic membrane) which can result in extreme pain. In severe or untreated instances the ear drum might rupture causing pus to enter the ear canal. It is prevalent for ear infections to follow a cold. Following a few days of congestion, the ear may become involved resulting in intense pain.

Standard remedy of ear infections entails antibiotic therapy or surgical implanting tubes within the ears. It is crucial to recognize that antibiotics will only help bacterial ear infections and not viral. This is mainly because the antibiotics only have impact on bacteria and not viruses. Antibiotics may also kill the good flora (bacteria) utilized by the body.

Ear tubes are often prescribed by doctors for those with repeated ear infections. This is to help drain fluid that often stays behind the eardrum. The tubes are made of plastic and are shaped like a hollow spool. The specialist places the tube through a small surgical opening made in the eardrum. The child is unconscious during the surgery. Side effects may include infection which may include a smelling, green discharge. Scarring of the eardrum may also occur which can cause damage to hearing.

Instead of conventional techniques, a lot of parents are now deciding on a conservative approach. Chiropractic doesn't treat ear infections. Having said that, it's extremely common for those with ear infections to also have spinal complications in the neck. An understanding of the nerves can help to comprehend why chiropractic works so effectively in helping lots of people with ear infections. Several parents fully grasp the positive aspects of chiropractic and report outstanding results with their youngsters following chiropractic treatment and resolving their ear infections.

Chiropractic assists to remove interference to the nerves. It's widespread for those with ear infections to also have misaligned spinal bones inside the neck. When these bones become misaligned, it causes pressure on the delicate nerves that exit the spine. Some of these nerves inside the neck originate from the brainstem and continue towards the ear. These nerves control, monitor and regulate the ear. Pressure on these nerves from spinal complications will lead to a loss of function to the ear due to the fact nerve flow is blocked. Ear infections may well be the result.

In addition to misaligned spinal bones, tight muscles of the neck are common. When the muscles become tense, it causes pressure on the lymphatic drainage ducts around the ear. This will cause a loss of drainage that often accompanies ear infections. Chiropractic care will also help relax the muscles in the neck. Chiropractic is a great natural method to help those suffering from ear infections.
